Prime Minister’s Energy Adviser Taufiq-e-Elahi Chowdhury said that electricity will be distributed through area-wise load shedding as per the schedule from July 19 to reduce fuel oil losses. In this context, the Bogra load shedding schedule has been published by Northern Electricity Supply Company Limited – NESCO.

This schedule mentions when the current will go to Bogra. The Bogra load shedding schedule is applicable for the Bogra district and will be effective from the 19th of July. Here the block black area indicates the area of load shedding.

Loadshedding is Several Times The Index in Bogra:
Loadshedding takes place around 12 noon. It comes after 1 hour and goes again around 3 o’clock. After a couple of hours of electricity, there were 15 minutes of load shedding at around 7 o’clock. Then at night, there was no electricity from 11 am to 12 am. Later it goes again around 2 am. The power went out around 9:30 on Wednesday morning. Arrives at 9:50. Then load shedding started again around 10 am as per schedule.
The colony area of Bogra town lost power at 8:32 am. Arrives at 9:07. But area wise load shedding time is given from 1 pm to 2 pm. Another time is 6 pm to 7 pm. In addition to Bogra, the Rangpur region, Thakurgaon, Rajshahi and other districts of the north have seen widespread electricity load shedding. Frequent load shedding is also happening in the districts of the Mymensingh region. In Sylhet and Noakhali region, customers are not getting power for three to four hours.
In the capital Dhaka too, load shedding is happening for two hours a day in different areas for two days. Officials claim that there has been no load shedding for four years as production capacity has been created according to the electricity demand in the country.
But for two days, there is a shortage of more than 1,200 MW in supply against the demand of 14,500 MW of electricity per day. Electricity production has been reduced due to a lack of gas.
The Government is not Buying Gas from the World Market:
State Minister for Power and Energy Nasrul Hamid said that LNG is not being bought from the international open market or spot market due to the increase in gas prices in the world-market because of the war in Ukraine. That is why electricity production has been reduced, he said. “The cost of gas has enhanced a lot. The amount of subsidy given by the government cannot be covered even with that,” said Nasrul Hamid.
While explaining the global energy market situation, he said, “The cost of gas has now reached 36 dollars per cubic foot in the international spot market. “Since I cannot bring gas with this amount of money, I have to take this measure,” said State Minister Mr. Hamid.
Gas-based power plants have a power generation capacity of more than 10,000 MW. Less than half of the power is now being generated in these plants.
Apart from this, the officials say that the price of fuel oil is also high in the world market, so the petroleum corporation has to pay a loss of more than 100 crore rupees a day. That is why oil-fired power plants are also not running at full capacity. So, this load shedding occurs more than the limited time all over the country and people are suffering.
